Ayurveda, often referred to as "The Science of Life", is the oldest healing science. Ayurveda originated in India more than 5000 years ago and is the most used medicine there today. It stems from the ancient Vedic culture.
Ayurveda places great emphasis on health, primarily focusing to the balance in one's life. Ayurveda identifies 3 basic types of energy. The Sanskrit for these energies are Vata, Pitta, & Kapha, the basic biology of the body. In Ayurveda, body, mind, & consciousness all work together to maintain balance throughout the body. Ayurveda does not focus on disease of the body but rather it maintains that all life may be supported and corrected by energy in balance within the body.
Ayurveda encompasses different techniques for assessing overall health, by evaluating the signs & symptoms of illness. Consultation includes a series of direct questions, observation, and or physical exam. Recommendations for bringing balance in to the body to correct illness may include lifestyle changes, modifying or following a specific nutrition plan, the use or recommendation of certain herbs, supplements, essential oils, ect.
Ayurveda addresses all aspects of life, recognizing that each being is unique & responds differently to the aspects of life. Through insight & understanding Ayurveda presents a vast wealth of information to restore balance to the mind, body, & soul.
